Full of the Sea
Interacting noise waves

Each of these objects includes several stages of gain to amplify the noise floor of the circuit and the fluctuations within its wires and power supply, as well as an oscillating vactrol that shapes the sound into waves. One of the things that unites my artistic work is an interest in simple large-scale forms that create complex details. The sixteen objects here are identical, but variation in component tolerances creates differences in tone and metabolism for each. The title is borrowed from a poem by Monica Kidd:

I AM FULL OF THE SEA

       I am come to land,
       bereaved of the stillness in
       my wandering bones.
