Liam is a Canadian composer, instrument maker, and sound artist from Calgary, AB living in Princeton, NJ. His work creates a sense of place and reflects a fascination with the sounds and processes of the natural world. He creates acoustic and electroacoustic pieces for concert performance and builds sound sculptures and instruments that transform natural processes into musical sound.
Liam is a lecturer at Princeton University, where he teaches courses on handmade sound practices and on engineering and the arts. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Composition at Acadia University, his MPhil in Music Studies at the University of Cambridge, and his PhD in Music Composition at Princeton University. His work has been performed and exhibited across Canada, as well as in the US, the UK, Bulgaria, and Germany.
